LOVELY ROSE AND THE ARSENIC WAFER
Found b&w Civil War era tintype copied, blown up, colored (photo dyes, makers, paint pen) and mounted on distorted striped wallpaper. It was then pasted to a background created with a combination of a beauty care ad and a 1920's nursery catalog page (colored with markers) for roses. The beauty product company was based in New York on Cortlandt Street and promised great beauty if the lovely women would only take the advertised "arsenic complexion wafer."
