ROY WHO WAS PRESENT

14 x 11 black and white family photos, period newspapers (North Carolina,) adaptation of a border from an early Ethiopian gospel manuscript, and a quote from Keith Jarrett. Blown up, cut out, and painted with acrylics, photo dyes, markers, pen and ink on paper. Given in memory of Roy Frasier whose court case brought about the integration of the University of North Carolina in 1955. Roy was a teacher, Peace Corps volunteer in Ethiopia, golfer, and an ardent and knowledgeable jazz fan. Many Jazz greats played him out at his memorial. Roy at four ages is shown.
